An invitation from a valued customer to attend a “product lighting ceremony” is a big honor. That’s what happened recently when Tianma Microelectronics hosted an event to celebrate its new Gen 6 flexible OLED display manufacturing facility in Xiamen, China.
The occasion is especially exciting when your product is selected as a key enabling technology and your team credited for its “outstanding contribution” to the new facility. That accolade was awarded to Kateeva for supplying two YIELDjet® Lassen inkjet printers for OLED TFE mass production.
We are proud and grateful for the recognition.
Our collaboration with Tianma began with the start-up of a 200x200mm YIELDjet Kuna inkjet system for OLED TFE R&D. The tool is used to pilot inkjet as a mass-production solution for advanced displays for mobile devices. Guided by Tianma’s technology priorities, we built a system to meet the customer’s mass-production standards worldwide, leveraging our extensive print expertise and process knowledge at our technology centers in Silicon Valley and Shaoxing, China.
“We are honored to receive this distinguished award from Tianma. Together, we set an ambitious “solutions agenda” to meet the customer’s technical imperatives for next-generation mobile displays. Our close collaboration sparked deep innovation at all points of the journey from R&D to mass production – resulting in the deployment of two Lassen printers. We salute Tianma for their impressive new OLED facility. We’re proud of our contribution to our partner’s success.”

The ½ Gen 6 Lassen printer is a popular mass-production tool in global display manufacturing fabs. It is known for achieving complex, difficult-to-print features with high productivity, throughput, and yield, and excellent uptime.
The tool is one of several in Kateeva’s family of printers for substrates ranging in size from Gen 4.5 through Gen 8.5 and above. Differentiated by Kateeva’s YIELDjet technology, it is the display industry’s first and longest serving printer for OLED TFE mass production. It is valued especially for advanced software, such as the Multi-Thickness Area Printing (MTAP) capability that allows for multiple edge profiles and film thicknesses within the same print. With this unprecedented flexibility, new recipe tuning time drops from days to hours.
With its value firmly established in OLED TFE mass-production fabs, Kateeva is now extending the Lassen’s capabilities to address emerging display applications like hole fill, microlens arrays, and others.
